Who is in your family? My husband Scott, daughter Tiya, and my mom Debranee.
Why did you first come to FIT4MOM? I was nearing my second trimester, and I had no idea what exercises were still safe for me. I asked a close friend, and she took me to a FIT4MOM SF Peninsula class in Redwood City using a buddy pass. I loved it so much that I joined the 510 group soon after and was able to safely exercise until the day I went to the hospital and got induced! Even though this chapter doesn't offer FIT4BABY classes, Jo welcomed me to the group and was always very thoughtful about modifications she offered. I'm glad it worked out this way - I picked up so many invaluable mom tips by working out with other moms before the baby came. After giving birth, baby blues hit me hard and my doctor told me to "go spend time with other moms". Fortunately I had a mom group I was already part of! Tiya first met Jo and some other FIT4MOM moms when she was 12 days old!
What is your favorite part of class or favorite class format? My favorite part of class is being able to show up however I am that day - full of energy because the baby slept all night, on 3 cups of coffee at 9:30am, injured, sad - it doesn't matter. I always leave feeling better! As Tiya has gotten older, I'm also incredibly appreciative of how hard the instructors try to keep her engaged so I can get a solid workout in.
What are your favorite places to go and/or activities to do together as a family? We love checking out new toddler-friendly parks and toddler-friendly events in the East Bay! We are also loving taking Tiya to the pool these days.
A few words to share about yourself? I'm an amazing mom... and I've also worked incredibly hard for my career, and I still love my job. My superpower is whipping up some banging banana coconut pancakes..Tiya brings me the Tushbaby when I'm in the kitchen so she can hop on and cook with me.
What is your favorite self care activity? Taking a 30+ minute shower to do my full hair wash routine! And making time for FIT4MOM classes - I use the FIT4MOM onDemand video app when I can't make it to class!
